F2P is a great concept that can benefit everyone -- the devs and gamers alike.
*IF* and only if it's executed properly.
At best it's effectively pay what you want -- you can get a load of content for free and pay out for things because you feel the devs deserve some money. Planetside 2 got this right, as I played for 25 hours without paying a penny (all classes, vehicles, weapons etc all available to everyone and balanced), but bought £20 worth o...
"Exclusives" is a stretch beyond the first handful of retail games. Some great boutique/F2P stuff there, but I know that because I played them last year on PC. Some have even been in humble bundles.
Exclusives might seem silly, but the fact is that the rivalry between console manufacturers is the main driving force behind quality. It always has been, ever since the SNES vs MegaDrive/Genesis continually pushed forward with Mario/Sonic, FF/Phantasy Star etc. Exclusives are a key part of that as console manufacturers do their best to secure great games for their system.
A one-console or exclusive-less future could be a meritocracy, but just as likely, would mean that great ...
Well yeah, but poor old Mattrick needs another gold-plated helicopter. Why won't anyone think of the executives?!
Bubs. "Well said."
Come on Nintendo: cross-buy. Cross. Buy. Simples.
For sure, Sony always brings good stuff to Gamescom.
Yeah, but the only one of those games you mentioned coming out this year is multiplatform and cross-generation. :( Sony really didn't bring the big guns, did they? And sorry, but that 1886 footage looks like literally the worst bit of the game - what were they thinking?
Games games games.
More importantly, plenty of games THIS YEAR. Sony's first party studios will need to pull out a view surprises to counter Halo MCC, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Fable Legends etc - not to mention CoD, indies and all the multiplats.
Games games games. That's all we want when it comes right down to it, and it's great to see Microsoft delivering rather than getting sidetracked by services and entertainment (cool though they a...
For the record, Dealspwn only has nice things to say about Sunset Overdrive - just took issue with the main character's intro and voiceover. Bit 'too cool for school,' perhaps, but looks properly fun nevertheless!
Yeah great event - everyone's saying it's the best MS presser in years and they're not wrong. Spencer knows how to work a room... by leaving the stage and showing off great-looking games!
All hail B!
Erm, wait, what?
...it's the same as Worms: Clan Wars, which came out last year on PC. Identical. Which was flawed in many ways IMO.
Still, perhaps I'm letting the good old days of Worms 2 and Armageddon Rope Racing cloud my judgment.
Good. Do your own thing and don't listen to fans in this case - they don't know what they want, and more to the point, Sonic Boom is clearly designed as a relaunch for a new Western audience anyway. Existing fans will still be able to play games from Sonic Team.
Erm... sorry, but what other game could they use? Halo 2 was the last Halo game to release on PC, and is compatible with the Surface.
It think you might be clutching at straws here, even if I deeply crave Xbox One Halo.
I do expect H2A at E3, mind, just not entirely sure if this is a tease or not
Plus I suspect that X will end up as game of show. Don't get me wrong, all consoles will get huge reveals, but Nintendo must know that the chips are down.
EDIT: remember that the site in question is based on financials and stocks. They make perfectly valid points given their perspective.
I'd love for Jordi to be the next main character.
By far. I own a Vita and Xbox One... and barely touch them apart from when an awesome localised JRPG hits the Vita.
Which is practically every week, so okay, I play the Vita constantly too. But the 3DS is out in front by a country mile.
I really, really want to be wrong about this being godawful.
City Interactive + Stuart Black + Development Hell = an easy calcaulation... on paper.
Should have been F2P. I wouldn't have minded its butchered mission structure and copious IAPs if it didn't retail at £15.
As a Panzer Dragoon superfan who still plays the originals (including Orta and Saga), I was disgusted by Crimson Dragon.
Haha, I'd completely forgotten about this! I wonder if Namco have taken it off the back burner while their team is working on Super Smash Bros.
